About The Position

The Patient Registrar provides accurate registration to support accurate billing for inpatients, outpatients, and other registration types. The role gathers patient information through interviews, provides financial counseling and verifies insurance, and explains hospital policies concerning visitation, payment for charges, and available services. The registrar also handles routine inquiries and problems while supporting good public relations and meeting or exceeding customer service expectations related to registration. The employee is expected to be fully trained in and follow MUSC Health Patient Financial Services policies and procedures according to established guidelines. Performance is routinely evaluated, with expectations of a 95% to 98% success rate for meeting expectations and 100% or greater for exceeding them.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment.
• Ability to follow directions and perform work according to department standards.
