Patient Monitor Observer - Full Time
About The Position
Sanford Health is hiring a full-time Patient Monitor Observer. The Monitor Tech provides support services, including basic computer keyboarding, assembling and disassembling patient charts as appropriate, notifying other departments of ordered tests and procedures, and stocking supplies. The role monitors and interprets patient heart rhythms and vital signs, follows established algorithm parameters that may trigger alarms, interprets alarms, and communicates appropriately. Depending on location, the Monitor Tech may also continuously observe and surveil assigned patients and summon nursing staff when a patient requires assistance.
Requirements
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret patient heart rhythms and vital signs.
- Follow established algorithm parameters and interpret alarming events.
- Communicate appropriately in response to alarms and other events.
- Depending on location, provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
- Summon nursing staff when a patient requires assistance.
- Perform basic computer keyboarding.
- Tear down and assemble patient charts as appropriate.
- Notify other departments of ordered tests and procedures as needed.
- Stock supplies.
