Patient Monitor Observer - Full Time
About The Position
Sanford Health is seeking a full-time Patient Monitor Observer to provide support services and monitor patient heart rhythms and vital signs. The role includes following established algorithm parameters, interpreting alarms and events, and communicating appropriately when follow-up is needed. Depending on the location, the position may also involve continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients and summoning nursing staff when a patient requires assistance. Support duties may include basic computer keyboarding, assembling and disassembling patient charts, notifying other departments about ordered tests and procedures, and stocking supplies. Work includes varied day and evening shifts, every other weekend, and holidays. Scheduled hours are 32 per week.
Requirements
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret patient heart rhythms and vital signs.
- Follow established algorithm parameters and interpret alarms and alarming events.
- Communicate appropriately and follow through when alarms or events require action.
- Depending on location, continuously observe and surveil assigned patients.
- Summon nursing staff when an observed patient requires assistance.
- Perform basic computer keyboarding.
- Tear down and assemble patient charts as appropriate.
- Notify other departments about ordered tests and procedures as needed.
- Stock supplies.
