About The Position

The Patient Flow Manager is responsible for the effective leadership and daily operations of patient transport and constant observer/patient sitter services within a hospital setting. This role ensures safe, efficient patient movement and coverage while maintaining high standards of service, compliance, and team engagement.

Requirements

  • Prior management or supervisory experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare-related environment
  • Experience supporting patient or resident care strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational and statistical data to drive improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer proficiency in a Windows-based environment, with the ability to troubleshoot software or system issues and coordinate internal or external resolution

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and supervise Patient Flow Coordinators, Transporters, Dispatchers, and Sitters to ensure efficient and timely patient flow
  • Apply and reinforce best practices related to patient transport, infection control, and proper body mechanics
  • Develop, explain, and monitor dispatcher logic and transporter workflows to optimize service delivery
  • Coordinate patient transportation and sitter services with nursing units and ancillary departments; develop and maintain service agreements as needed
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including Federal and State regulations, Joint Commission, OSHA, and CDC guidelines
  • Oversee onboarding, orientation, training, and ongoing development for all levels of staff
  • Partner with the Unit Director to support financial objectives, manage labor and expenses, and ensure operations remain within budget
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, improve workflows, and enhance patient, staff, and client satisfaction
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals
