About The Position

This role is for a Patient Educator Registered Nurse (RN) in the AH Levine Children's Hospital, specifically on the Peds Hem/Onc & BMT unit. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with 4 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, and potential for holiday coverage. The unit, LCH 11P Hematology/Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant, services pediatric patients, including young adults, with 16 hem/onc beds and 8 bone marrow transplant beds, plus an MIBG suite. It is a fast-paced, innovative program offering unique services like phase 1 trials and MIBG therapy. The hospital, Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital (LCH), is the largest children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC with 247 beds, over 125 pediatric subspecialists, 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 24-bed PICU, 20-bed Cardiac ICU, an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. LCH is also Charlotte’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for 18 consecutive years, with national rankings in 7 pediatric specialties. Both LCH and Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center have Magnet re-designation, signifying excellence in nursing practice and patient outcomes.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
BLS required per policy guidelines.
Professional certification in the field of specialty within 2 years if not currently certified required or eligible to meet academic professional and experiential requirement to become certified in the field of practice.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
2 years of experience in the field of clinical specialty preferred.
Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader.

Serves as a resource to nursing staff, nursing students, other health care personnel and the community.
Incorporates into practice the generally accepted new techniques and knowledge acquired through continuing education and evidence based practice.
Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills and interpersonal communication skills.
Documents patient assessment, education, learning barriers and interventions to address barriers, and patient response to education.
