About The Position

A health care professional who has mastered the core of knowledge and skill in the biological and social sciences, communication and counseling, education; and who has clinical experience in the field of specialty. Functions include the role of expert clinician, educator, consultant, and case manager. In collaboration with the medical staff and nursing staff, monitors the clinical care and education of patients and provides educational support to improve patient care and patient outcomes. Acts as a role model, patient advocate, change agent, leader and cost-effective practitioner.

LCH 11P Hematology/Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant Unit: The 11th floor of Levine Children's Hospital is our pediatric hematology/oncology & bone marrow transplant unit. We service all pediatric patients, including young adults being cared for by our pediatric specialist. We have 16 hem/onc beds and 8 bone marrow transplant beds along with a MIBG suite. We are part of a fast paced and innovative program offering unique services including phase 1 trials and MIBG therapy. The staffing ratio for hem/onc is ideally 1:3/4 and for bone marrow transplant ideally 1:2. Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) has taken the community to another level of service to provide care for the growing population of children in our region. At 247 beds, LCH is the largest children’s hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. It serves high acuity patients as the flagship children’s hospital within the innovative Atrium Health and offers a full complement of over 125 pediatric subspecialists in over 30 different pediatric specialties. We have 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a newly expanded 24 bed PICU and 20 bed Cardiac ICU, an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. Levine Children’s Hospital is also Charlotte’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. LCH has been named a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 18 consecutive years and is nationally ranked in 7 pediatric specialties. Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• Professional certification in the field of specialty within 2 years if not currently certified required or eligible to meet academic professional and experiential requirement to become certified in the field of practice.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.
• 2 years of experience in the field of clinical specialty preferred.
• Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader.

• Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills and interpersonal communication skills.
• Documents patient assessment, education, learning barriers and interventions to address barriers, and patient response to education.
