About The Position

This role is responsible for the overall clinical, technical, and administrative functions related to the PAP Therapy program at the location on record. The Patient Coordinator will manage patient contact for equipment setups, explain therapy benefits and risks, and maintain clinical contact with physicians and other healthcare practitioners. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records, inventory, and patient demographic information, as well as training new staff. The role involves collaboration with office staff for billing and documentation, and with clinical, managerial, and sales staff for marketing services. Availability for patient contact and response to patient needs is required, along with teamwork to ensure task completion. Other duties and projects may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to interact knowledgeably with patients, physicians, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of administrative and clinical experience in an office setting preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Contacting patients to schedule setups of equipment (CPAP, AutoPAP, BiPAP) and explain the clinical benefits of PAP therapy and dangers of sleep apnea.
  • Clinical contact with the physician, referred contacts, health care practitioners, and others involved in the care of the patients referred for home respiratory therapy services.
  • Maintenance of records, charting, progress notes, clinical files, equipment records, preventative maintenance records, and other necessary documentation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all Sleep Management/VieMed assets and supplies.
  • Ensure all pertinent demographic information is updated regularly and with any change in personal or professional status.
  • Orientation and training of subordinate or newly hired respiratory therapist staff service technicians.
  • Exhibits effective written and verbal communication skills. Adheres to cost-containment policies and procedures.
  • Work with the office staff to ensure prompt and accurate billing and documentation of services, including providing adequate information to satisfy third-party payor guidelines for coverage.
  • Work with all clinical, managerial, and sales staff to promote and market home respiratory therapist services to all referral sources.
  • Provide availability for patient contact and response to patient needs.
  • Work with team members (other RTs, PCC’s and various departments) to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.
