Patient Care Technician-Riverview-ED-Per Diem-Days
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care appropriate to the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related needs of patients served in the assigned service. The role supports effective and safe patient outcomes through sound practice, judgment, and critical actions, and communicates on an ongoing basis with patients, nursing colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team about patient status and care provided. The technician takes initiative to improve job performance and identify opportunities to contribute beyond expected duties. The role also participates in interdisciplinary care planning from admission through discharge to support safe transitions and continuity of care, and takes part in unit or department performance-improvement activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent GED program.
- Completion of one of the following: a Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician program; a Fundamentals of Nursing program from an accredited nursing school; the HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program; or equivalent medical-background experience such as EMT, Home Health Aide, CMA, MA, PCT, or Nursing Assistant.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification, which must be obtained during the first 60 days of employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients served in the assigned service.
- Support effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment, and critical actions.
- Communicate ongoing patient status and care provided to patients, nursing colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Take self-directed initiative to exceed job expectations, improve performance, or create new opportunities.
- Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration on the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to support safe transitions and continuity of care.
- Participate in unit or department performance-improvement activities.
