About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the GI GU Surgery unit at Texas Health Fort Worth provides direct patient care and assistance based on the plan of care and patient/family preferences. This role involves collecting and reporting patient data, supporting admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and performing technical procedures safely while documenting care accurately. The PCT collaborates with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs, maintains a clean and safe environment, and proactively meets patient and visitor needs. Team members demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines, participating in process improvement, adhering to safety goals, and advocating for patients. This is a full-time night position requiring 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
