About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works in an entry-level position providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff. The role is in Cardiac Rehab Unit A at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights in Harker Heights, Texas, on a day shift and full-time basis. The hospital is an 83-bed acute care facility offering cardiology, emergency services, general and orthopedic surgery, total joint replacement, gastroenterology, diagnostic services, and other services.
Requirements
- Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in acute or long-term care.
- Experience with patient safety best practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
- Observe patients’ progress and prepare and disseminate reports to the Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
- Obtain and record patients’ vital signs and collect specimens for laboratory tests.
- Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
