About The Position

The Patient Care Technician provides patient-related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in the assigned unit. The technician assists with and observes patient care, reports changes in condition to a licensed caregiver, and maintains accurate documentation of care delivered. This full-time position is on the Medical/Surgical Unit at Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. It works a night shift of three 12-hour shifts, from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Shift and weekend coverage are self-scheduled; workdays may vary and are not fixed. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. Weekend, evening, and night shift differentials are offered where applicable.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of experience in a healthcare setting within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Six months of acute care experience.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license.

Responsibilities

Provide and collaborate on direct patient care services under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver.
Assist with personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and selected portions of the patient care plan as directed by a supervising nurse.
Observe patients and report changes in their condition to a licensed caregiver.
Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered.
Address or direct questions and concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
