Patient Care Technician - Cardiac Renal Unit (CRU) (PCT)
About The Position
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Cardiac Renal Unit (CRU), you will support nurses in providing hands-on care for patients with complex cardiac and renal conditions. Care includes hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and compassionate bedside support, including for patients nearing end of life. The position requires close observation to help ensure safe, high-quality care for patients who need monitoring. The 41-bed CRU cares for adult and geriatric patients with cardiovascular and renal conditions requiring telemetry monitoring and close observation. Patients may have heart failure, dysrhythmias, renal insufficiency or failure, unstable angina, myocardial infarction, or pre-open-heart-surgery needs. The role offers experience supporting telemetry patients and working alongside nurses trained in dysrhythmia and EKG interpretation. The unit emphasizes collaboration, steady leadership, teamwork, teaching, and learning and growth.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire.
- Completion of required PCT classes for the unit.
- Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- The role includes exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations.

- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and changing linens.
- Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers.
