About The Position
Join Lovelace Medical Center as a full-time, day-shift Patient Care Technician on the Med-Surg 5th Floor in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is an entry-level position providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff. Lovelace Medical Center is an acute care hospital with 263 licensed beds and services including emergency care, surgical services, non-invasive robotic spine surgery, stroke care, radiology, and oncology. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in phlebotomy or completion of a phlebotomy course.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- One year of experience in acute or long-term care.
- Working toward an approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff.
- Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
- Observe patients’ progress and prepare and share reports with registered nurses or other medical staff.
- Obtain and record patients’ vital signs and collect specimens for laboratory tests.
- Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
