About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basic patient care services and supports activities within ambulatory services. This multi-skilled role provides expanded services under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional. The PCT provides age-appropriate and culturally responsive care to patients from adolescence through geriatrics, attending to their physical and psychological needs. The position is a day shift role with 30 scheduled hours per week.

Requirements

• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers is required, or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
• If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, register as a Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months of initial employment.
• Be self-motivated and able to work independently and well with team members.
• Work effectively amid multiple distractions while maintaining excellent interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED).
• At least six months of experience.
• Experience in a clinic setting.
• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment or supplies.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient measurements and screenings, including height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, and color vision screening.
• Conduct drug screens and point-of-care urinalysis.
• Perform reception and clerical tasks.
• Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment for use.
• Clean and maintain medical equipment, patient care areas, and treatment rooms.
• Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
• Monitor medical inventory stock levels and restock or reorder supplies as needed.
• Work patient registries and identify opportunities to improve patient care.
• Provide age-appropriate, culturally responsive care to patients from adolescence through geriatrics.
