Patient Care Technician - Medical Surgical

About The Position
Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, the Patient Care Technician contributes to patient-centered care by performing selected day-to-day patient care activities and maintaining an environment that supports patient well-being. The technician demonstrates unit- or area-designated competencies and interacts with patients in consideration of their developmental, age-specific, cultural, and spiritual preferences. This position is in the Medical Surgical department and works nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with 48 scheduled hours per bi-weekly pay period.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. Certification must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in direct care.
- CENA training.
- Prior experience obtained through a clinical nursing rotation relevant to the specific work area.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care interventions delegated by the RN to help identify and attain treatment goals.
- Provide compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Assist patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, and exercising.
- Comply with health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and protect patients and employees by following infection-control, hazardous-waste, and other policies and protocols.
- Perform other related job duties as requested.
