About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care and help achieve desired outcomes. The role is an employee position with regular status in the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Acute Care Unit 6W. It is hourly, scheduled for 36 hours per week across three 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• For Patient Care Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent.
• For Patient Care Technician II: The position must be at least 24 hours per week, and the applicant must meet one of the following: hold an associate or bachelor's degree; have one year of experience in a healthcare facility; be actively enrolled in nursing school and have completed Nursing Fundamentals at an accredited institution; be actively enrolled in a healthcare-related field at an accredited institution; or hold Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant certification from an accredited institution.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within two weeks of hire and must thereafter remain current. Accepted credentials are American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or an AHA-recognized equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
• Ability to meet the listed physical, sensory, and work-environment requirements, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted infrequently, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
