About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the supervision of a licensed nurse to perform a variety of duties that support patient care and family needs. The PCT follows the care plan while considering each patient's age and developmental stage. This is a full-time evening-shift position on the Med Surg unit at Baylor Medical Center Lake Pointe in Rowlett.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than one year of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or obtain BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Collect and record patient data and vital signs.
• Help patients with activities of daily living.
• Answer call lights and complete patient rounds.
• Help complete and maintain files and forms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Provide personal hygiene care and help clean patients.
• Follow the care plan, taking the patient's age and developmental stage into consideration.
• Comply with Baylor Scott & White policies and procedures.
• Communicate clearly with patients and staff, verbally and in writing.
• Work with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and physicians.
