Patient Care Technician (PCT) Med-Surg Telemetry
About The Position
Highpoint Health Sumner is a 167-bed healthcare facility serving Middle Tennessee. The Patient Care Technician works on the Med-Surg Telemetry unit and contributes to the facility’s mission of making communities healthier by providing and assisting with direct patient care. The position is PRN and scheduled for nights. The technician helps patients with activities of daily living, monitors and records their behavior and activities, and reports changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff. Other duties include assisting with point-of-care testing and EKGs, and performing IV starts and urinary Foley catheter insertions as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required, though candidates with a State of Tennessee CNA license may be considered without a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- State of Tennessee CNA license preferred.
- One year of certified nurse technician or EMT experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Provide or assist with providing direct patient care.
- Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
- Report changes in patients’ physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggest modifications to treatment plans.
- Assist with point-of-care testing and EKGs as needed.
- Perform IV starts and urinary Foley catheter insertions.
