About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This role involves working with energetic and enthusiastic individuals in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required for Patient Care Technician I.
For Patient Care Technician II, meet ONE of the following: Associate or Bachelor's degree, at least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS, 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility, active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution, active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution, or Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire.
Maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects, depth perception.
Good peripheral vision capabilities.
Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
