About The Position

The Patient Care Technician provides patient-related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in the assigned unit. Under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver, the technician assists with patient care, observes and reports changes in condition, and maintains accurate medical record documentation about care delivered. The role is in the Telemetry Unit-2A/2F-Advanced Cardiac Care at Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is a full-time day-shift position consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Shift scheduling is self-scheduled, with workdays varying and no set days. Weekend and holiday rotations are required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of healthcare-setting experience within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Six months of acute-care experience.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT) license.

Responsibilities

Provide and collaborate on direct patient care services under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver, including personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed by a nurse.
Assist with, observe, and report changes in patient condition to a licensed caregiver.
Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered.
Address and/or direct questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or healthcare team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
