About The Position

This position performs basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. The Patient Care Technician will assist patients with ambulation, personal care, and activities of daily living. They will report findings or changes in patient condition to nursing staff, document necessary records, and maintain patient rooms and medical equipment. Additionally, the role involves performing technical patient care duties such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs, as well as obtaining and recording vital signs, weight, and inputs and outputs. The role is PRN with rotating shifts and is located at UAB St. Vincents Chilton in Clanton, AL.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
Assist patients with ambulation as necessary, including helping them to a recliner, to the bathroom, or down the hall.
Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
Documents necessary records.
Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
