As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Neuro Surgical Unit at Deaconess Gateway's Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital, you'll be an essential member of a collaborative team providing specialized care to patients with neurological and neurosurgical needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in a highly specialized setting while working alongside expert nurses, physicians, and healthcare professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. The Neuro Surgical Unit is a 32-bed inpatient department with an additional 5-bed short-stay pod located within the Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital at Deaconess Gateway. Team members care for a diverse patient population, providing exposure to both neurosurgical and neurological conditions in a highly specialized environment. Unit highlights include: * Caring for patients before and after complex neurosurgical procedures, including neck, back, and brain surgeries * Supporting patients with neurological conditions, as well as head, neck, and back pain diagnoses * Exposure to advanced specialty care and innovative treatment approaches * Opportunities to collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, neurologists, and other specialty providers * Participation in a care environment that includes blood transfusions and select IV infusion therapies through the unit's short-stay pod * A strong focus on teamwork, communication, and delivering exceptional patient experiences * An excellent setting for individuals interested in neuroscience, surgical care, or expanding their clinical knowledge Because many patients are recovering from life-changing procedures, team members have the opportunity to play an important role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within six months of hire

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting patients with personal care needs, including bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, and linen changes
  • Supporting patient mobility, repositioning, transfers, and ambulation
  • Monitoring and documenting vital signs and patient observations
  • Accurately recording important information in patient charts
  • Providing compassionate care and emotional support to patients and families throughout their treatment and recovery
  • Contributing to a safe, positive, and patient-centered care environment
