About The Position

The Patient Care Tech works in the Cardiovascular Care Unit at INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The role performs delegated direct patient care activities for an assigned group of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. It requires population-specific competencies and adherence to applicable National Patient Safety Goals. Openings are available on day and night shifts.

Requirements

Hold a current BLS certification or complete BLS certification within 90 days.
Communicate effectively in English.
Complete department-specific competencies during orientation.
Meet at least one of the following education or experience options: successfully complete a recognized nursing assistant course; successfully complete an accredited nursing program or a Nursing Fundamentals or Introduction to Nursing course that includes a skills lab or clinical rotation, with verification by transcript or official notice; enroll in a CNA training program within 45 days and complete it within 90 days of hire; have three months of employment in an INTEGRIS patient care area with nursing assistant duty training and observation certified by the clinical nurse manager or clinical director; have 12 months of nursing assistant experience in an acute care facility, nursing home, home care setting, or long-term care facility; or have prior military hospital corpsman medical training.

Responsibilities

Perform personal care tasks, including mouth care, making beds, bathing, perineal care, hair care, shaving, and emptying bedpans or urinals.
Assist with patient safety, including checking identification arm bands, following fall protocols and restraint procedures, positioning patients, promoting rest and sleep, and reporting incidents or injuries.
Perform treatments that may include urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparing sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting patients with ambulation.
May retrieve and transport medications.
