About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Trophy Club is hiring a full-time Patient Care Tech. The position reports primarily to PSU, with possible cross-training and assignments in other departments subject to approval by the PSU director. The PCT assists with routine patient care and performs related administrative and secretarial duties at the PSU nursing desk. Duties must remain within the scope of a patient care technician and may not require licensure or certification beyond that scope.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required within three months of hire.
Preferably at least one year of experience in a hospital, high-volume clinic, private physician’s office, or nursing home.
Do not perform duties requiring licensure or certification beyond the scope of a patient care technician.

At least one year of experience in a hospital, high-volume clinic, private physician’s office, or nursing home is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with all phases of routine patient care.
Obtain and document vital signs.
Collect laboratory specimens.
Ambulate patients.
Respond to patient requests and call lights.
Pass dietary trays.
Accompany patients as necessary.
Perform secretarial and administrative duties at the PSU nursing desk, including answering telephones.
Build charts for newly admitted patients and break down charts for discharged patients.
Enter charges into the EHR.
Organize medical records and perform an initial audit before sending charts to Medical Records.
Be available for cross-training and assignments in other departments, subject to approval by the PSU director.
