About The Position
The Patient Care Tech provides basic patient care and functions as a CNA. The role follows established standards of care and hospital and Powers Health policies and procedures, while supporting Powers Health’s mission and philosophy. The position is part of a nursing-floor team at St Catherine Hospital.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a certified nurse assistant training course or one year of satisfactory work performance as a nurse assistant.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform required competencies within allotted time periods.
Nice To Haves
- Current valid State certification is strongly recommended.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Answer call lights and telephones, respond to patient requests, handle routine requests, and relay information to appropriate personnel.
- Serve patient food trays, snacks, and nourishment.
- Assist with patient mobility, including lifting, positioning patients in bed, and transferring patients between a wheelchair and bed or between a cart and bed.
- Assist with patient ambulation as directed.
- Assist with preparing patients for transfer or discharge.
- Transport patients to designated areas of the hospital as necessary or directed.
- Collect and label specimens for delivery to the Laboratory.
- Assist with picking up and delivering requisitions, supplies, specimens, blood, equipment, reports, and other items needed for efficient unit operations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and aseptic environment in assigned work areas.
