About The Position

The Patient Care Tech works in the Stroke Progressive Care Unit at Trinity Health Livonia Campus. Under the direction of a registered nurse, the role provides direct patient care while considering patients’ age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The technician demonstrates unit- or area-designated competencies and helps maintain a clean, safe care environment that supports patient and family well-being, including relationship-based care.

This is a part-time position with 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Team members are required to work every other weekend and three holidays per year.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: at least one year of previous direct care experience in an acute or long-term care setting, or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course, or nursing students must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
• Ability to work every other weekend and three holidays per year.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care delegated by the registered nurse to help identify and attain treatment goals.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Demonstrate sterile or aseptic technique, as appropriate, when performing delegated activities.
• Help establish and maintain a clean, safe patient care environment conducive to patient and family well-being.
• Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation and charging requirements.
• Complete delegated unit-specific activities.
• Demonstrate unit- or area-designated competencies.
