Med Surg, Patient Care Tech (PCT) - Part-Time
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed professional nurses, supporting a team of patients and helping maintain a safe, healing environment. The role gathers vital patient information and reports changes in condition to the nursing team to contribute to patient assessment. The position is in the 34-bed Medical/Surgical Department at Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital, which provides general medical, pre- and post-operative, urology, cardiac, and pediatric care. The department serves patients from infancy through older adulthood. This is a part-time role based in Sullivan, Missouri, working 24 hours per week on nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., with rotating weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
- CNA, Nurse Assistant, EMT, or Surgical Tech experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
- Collect clinical data and information on patients and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
- Assist nurses with patient and family education.
- Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
- Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet each patient's needs.
- Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in professional development.
