The Patient Care Technician - OR provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves providing safe and direct care, monitoring patient conditions, assisting with patient transfers and positioning, and ensuring a safe and clean environment. The technician also contributes to efficient patient care by preparing supplies and equipment, transporting items, and completing safety checklists. They play a role in the patient experience by identifying patients, observing safety goals, and reporting patient responses or incidents. Additionally, the role requires attending mandatory training and adhering to patient safety initiatives. Additional duties may include donning sterile gowns and gloves, passing sutures, holding retractors, and assisting with the breakdown of the sterile field. The technician operates laser and other specialty equipment under the direction of the RN. The role requires the ability to provide equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
