The Patient Care Technician - OR provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves providing safe and direct care to patients in their assigned unit, monitoring their conditions, and updating the healthcare team. The technician assists with patient transfers and positioning in the OR, and ensures the assigned clinical location is safe, clean, and stocked. They contribute to efficient patient care by preparing supplies and equipment, transporting items, and opening sterile supplies. The role also includes completing daily safety checklists, contributing to the patient experience by observing safety goals and reporting patient responses, attending mandatory training, and ensuring patient safety in all job functions. Establishing and maintaining courteous and effective rapport with patients, visitors, co-workers, and the healthcare team is essential. Additional duties may include donning sterile gown and gloves, holding extremities, passing sutures, assisting with breakdown of the sterile field, and operating laser and other specialty equipment under the direction of the RN.
