About The Position

Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse, and other support services based on patient needs as a member of the care delivery team. Uses effective and appropriate communication and supports unit and hospital goals. This is an onsite night-shift role at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono, working 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with every-other-weekend and holiday rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of recent experience directly providing patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies, or successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course upon hire.
• Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
• Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and related activities for designated patients using a patient- and family-centered approach and following established policies and procedures.
• Observe patients and communicate findings, changes, or problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Communicate effectively with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues.
• Support unit-based patient experience goals and hospital goals as a department team member.
• Participate in orienting new staff, as assigned.
• Perform validated technical skills according to clinical specialty and unit practice.
• Use technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
• Complete quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable.
• Conduct assigned patient rounds, anticipate patient needs, and promptly respond to call lights or pages.
