About The Position

Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies, as directed by a Registered Nurse. Provides other support services based on patient needs as a member of the care delivery team. Uses effective and appropriate communication styles and supports unit and hospital goals and objectives. The position is onsite at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono, at 206 E Brown St, on the night shift, with a schedule listed as “&pm-730am” and an every-other-weekend and holiday rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of recent experience directly providing patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies, or successful completion of LVHN’s inexperienced technical partner course upon hire.
• Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
• Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in patient care delivery.
• Basic computer skills.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and related activities for designated patients using a patient- and family-centered approach and following established policies and procedures.
• Observe patients and communicate findings, changes, or problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Communicate effectively and appropriately, verbally and nonverbally, with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues.
• Support unit-based patient experience goals and hospital goals as a department team member.
• Participate in orienting new staff when assigned.
• Perform validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice.
• Use technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
• Complete quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable.
• Conduct assigned patient rounds, anticipate patient needs, and respond promptly to call lights or pages.
