About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital’s 3100 Unit is a 16-bed cardiac telemetry and medical-surgical unit. It cares for patients needing extensive assistance with activities of daily living, including high-risk fall patients and patients with conditions or care needs such as pneumonia, failure to thrive, weakness, confusion, sepsis, PEG care, central lines, multiple antibiotic therapies, blood transfusions, IV push and limited cardiac drip titration medications, and tracheostomies. Many patients transfer from the MICU or SICU; the unit also occasionally cares for neuro overflow patients. The unit focuses on IV push, limited cardiac drips, and chest pain testing and monitoring. The Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) provides hands-on care and frequent attention to help patients feel comfortable, supported, and safe during treatment. The role requires an attentive, empathetic caregiver who is willing to learn medical technologies and support patients through vulnerable moments. The position offers opportunities to develop skills applicable to advanced roles or other Cleveland Clinic departments. The caregiver works days, either 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., including every other weekend and three holidays per year.
