About The Position

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant works on Fairview Hospital’s 6 North/South Med/Surg and Telemetry Units, which provide comprehensive care to adults age 18 and older with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role supports a warm, welcoming, and healing environment and provides or assists with patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The position offers opportunities for educational advancement, skills development, and progression to higher positions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or obtain it during the new-hire period.
• Nursing students must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross before hire.
• Nursing students who have completed at least one clinical rotation in an accredited nursing school program may substitute that rotation for the required experience.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.

Nice To Haves

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weights; helping patients with personal care and activities of daily living; patient transfers and transport; pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing; dressing changes; applying external monitoring devices; and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Help keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
