About The Position

West Wichita Family Physicians is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to coordinate pre-service components for in-house diagnostic procedures, including MRI, CT, and Nuclear Medicine, and to process referrals for specialist or other patient care appointments. The position involves working with physicians, patients, insurance providers, and other members of the care team to arrange procedures and appointments and help patients understand what to expect.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a clinic setting.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and others involved in patient care.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of insurance processes and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
• Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA), medical assistant (MA), RN, or LPN program, or equivalent training or experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive physician orders for scheduling in-house diagnostic imaging procedures and process referrals for specialist or other patient care appointments.
• Verify that the ordered procedure corresponds with the diagnosis and confirm appropriate prior testing is complete before pre-certification.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain information required for pre-certification.
• Contact patients or their representatives by phone to schedule procedures.
• Explain procedures and preparation requirements, answer questions, and provide directions about location and time.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Contribute to a healthy team environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
