About The Position
Montclair Breast Center (MBC), a member of Genesis Health, is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to support healthcare services in accordance with established policies and protocols. The role includes screening and scheduling new and existing patients, obtaining medical records and imaging studies, managing medical-record requests, scanning and attaching documents in the electronic medical record, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification and authorizations, phone and message triage, and collaboration with team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- 1–3 years of medical office experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of insurance and managed care.
- Competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
- Knowledge of computers and electronic medical records.
- Strong charting and documentation skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Good judgment and the ability to make timely, sound decisions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to handle changing priorities with flexibility and enthusiasm.
Responsibilities
- Register patients at the front office.
- Screen and schedule new and existing patients according to MBC protocols.
- Provide patients with appropriate forms and maintain or update applicable forms and medical records.
- Answer and screen telephone calls professionally and promptly, take accurate messages, and use judgment when handling appointment requests and calls.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals in a busy, complex environment, using tact and diplomacy.
- Handle medical-record requests and provide appropriate information.
- Compose, type, and distribute professional correspondence, memoranda, emails, and faxes.
- Obtain medical records from new and existing patients and download imaging CDs.
- Scan written reports, including pathology, mammogram, sonogram, and MRI reports, into the record.
- Call insurers to verify patient benefits.
- Collect referrals and co-pays.
