About The Position

Callen-Lorde Community Health Center provides sensitive, quality health care and related services to New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, regardless of ability to pay. The organization also promotes health education and wellness and advocates for LGBTQ+ health issues.

Patient Care Associates play a vital role in creating a seamless patient experience. They manage a high volume of calls, provide accurate information, and assist patients with their healthcare needs. This is a full-time, hybrid position with evening hours.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and helpful under stress.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a medical service environment, specifically with front desk activities.
• Knowledge of Federal and New York State patient privacy regulations and laws.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming calls from patients, providers, and other stakeholders, providing information and assistance as needed.
• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient scheduling.
• Register new and returning patients, collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information.
• Take accurate messages and route them to appropriate staff members.
• Enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Troubleshoot patient issues and concerns, escalating issues as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other stakeholders.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and other relevant compliance standards.
