About The Position
St. Mary's General Hospital is a community-based tertiary medical center in Passaic, New Jersey, providing acute care and a broad range of medical services. The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care, and helps maintain a safe environment. The role works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
Requirements
- State-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
Nice To Haves
- Current phlebotomy certification upon hire is preferred.
- Current EKG certification upon hire is preferred.
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Provide basic nursing care to patients.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
