About The Position
As a Patient Care Assistant, you help patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with basic daily living activities. You directly support patients with personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, and assist nursing staff with vital-sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms. Success in this role requires a genuine desire to help patients, diligence in completing tasks, attentiveness to changes in patients’ conditions, and openness to coaching.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or SRNA.
- One year of direct patient care experience.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
- Monitors and records vital signs.
- Assists with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
- Measures, records, and reports intake and output.
- Obtains and records daily weight.
- Performs blood glucose testing using a blood glucose meter.
- Promptly reports changes in patient status to the RN.
- Performs as a patient care companion when needed.
- Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Performs unit housekeeping needs.
- Acts as a runner/transporter.
