About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works in the Float Pool, moving between Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Green Hospital (Torrey Pines). The PCA is a key member of the clinical care team and provides excellent service to patients. The role assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and helps maintain a safe, organized patient environment. The PCA assists with patient care within the permitted scope and under a clinician’s direction, and supports the unit with patient logistics, clerical tasks, equipment and supply duties, and charge reconciliation. This is a full-time position of 72 hours per pay period, scheduled for 12-hour day shifts on variable days of the week, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider, or current enrollment in or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school, or current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a service aptitude.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.

Nice To Haves

CNA certification.
One year of patient-related experience is preferred.
