About The Position
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is a key member of the Medical/Oncology clinical care team at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. The PCA provides excellent service to patients by assisting with personal needs and activities of daily living, collecting data, and helping ensure patients have a safe, organized environment. The role assists with patient care within the permitted scope and under the direction of a clinician. The PCA also supports the unit with patient logistics, clerical work, equipment and supply duties, and charge reconciliation.
Requirements
- One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider, or current enrollment in or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school, or current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
- Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a service aptitude.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.
Nice To Haves
- CNA certification.
- One year of patient-related experience.
