About The Position

IU Health is seeking a bedside caregiver, also known as a Patient Care Technician or Patient Care Assistant (PCA), to help provide a positive patient experience. The PCA anticipates patients’ needs by providing drinks, assisting with meal ordering, encouraging walking, helping with baths, and providing clean linens and gowns. The role also provides clinical assistance to the bedside registered nurse by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities or behavioral changes to the primary RN or charge nurse so patients can receive timely treatment. Patient safety is maintained by using measures such as gait belts and bed and chair alarms and staying within arm’s reach of patients when assisting with movement. The position requires compassion, a caring bedside manner, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The posting describes a full-time day-shift position in Med Psych, Riley 4E. IU Health notes that its roles offer an outstanding benefits package for part-time and full-time positions, competitive pay, and development opportunities and tuition reimbursement. New hires are required to receive certain vaccinations, including influenza and COVID-19, unless an exemption is approved; the posting also states that new hires may submit proof of previous vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccine is not required to begin employment, but the posting states that team members needed to be fully vaccinated by September 1, 2021.
