About The Position
Shriners Children’s is hiring a full-time Patient Care Assistant in the PICU at its Philadelphia hospital. The role works evening hours from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The Patient Care Assistant supports patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs routine direct-care and unit-support tasks, and helps maintain a safe and caring environment for children and their families. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Nice To Haves
- One year of pediatric experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Provide direct patient care and perform routine tasks as assigned.
- Demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families.
- Monitor children’s activities and maintain a safe physical and psychosocial environment.
- Answer telephones and triage phone calls appropriately.
- Complete purchase orders for the PICU and inpatient unit.
- Maintain unit supplies and monitor inventory.
- Provide routine secretarial assistance, including copying, faxing, and typing.
- Assist with patient transport.
- Schedule appointments with consultants, radiology, and other imaging services.
- Assist with performance improvement processes and data gathering.
