About The Position
The Patient Care Assistant supports patients with healthcare needs and activities of daily living and provides bedside care, including basic nursing procedures, under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). The role is with Garnet Health Medical Center-Catskill. The position requires BLS certification and EKG competency before release from unit orientation, ongoing maintenance of both, and attendance at hospital crisis training within three months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of a Nursing Assistant/Aide course.
- BLS certification and EKG training/competency must be completed before release from unit orientation and maintained throughout employment.
- Attend the hospital crisis training program within three months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
- Ability to perform medium to light work, including lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds; bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and standing or walking for 80% of the position.
- Ability to express or exchange ideas through spoken and written communication.

- CNA certification is preferred for all new hires as of June 1, 2007.
