About The Position

This part-time day position on the ORTHO Unit involves providing personal care to hospital patients and maintaining their environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/LPN and Nurse Manager/Director. The role requires understanding and applying principles of growth and development across the lifespan, ensuring patient safety, and utilizing technology systems for patient data collection. Responsibilities include ensuring resource availability, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, performing specified treatments and procedures competently, and providing consistent, competent, and ethical care within legal standards. The position also involves accurate documentation and positive participation in training and support of team members, volunteers, and students.

Requirements

  • Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) or CPR/BLS Instructor - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection.
  • Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN/LPN.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow the plan of care that assures patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support for the patient’s value system.
  • Provides care consistent with both verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Demonstrates competent understanding of assigned plans of care within appropriate scope of practice and responsibilities as directed by the RN/LPN to include accurately completing all required documentation.
  • Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.
