About The Position

This position works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of the patients and their environment. The role involves performing specified functions and tasks where there is validated competency, including simple wound care, EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to departmental policy and procedure. This role also promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire
  • Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP)
  • In lieu of CNA certification, will accept EMT-B (Basic) from the Virginia Department of Health Professions or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), or Medical Assistant Program Graduate, or Currently enrolled in LPN or RN diploma or degree program with at least 80 clinical hours completed.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year Prior health care experience in hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be able to take direction from the charge nurse to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.
