About The Position

Greets patients and visitors – is the first “face” of LifeCare Medical Center. The Patient Access Representative is responsible for registering and scheduling all types of patients – inpatient, outpatient and emergency department patients. As a part of the registration and scheduling process, the Patient Access Representative ensures accurate patient identity and verifies demographic and insurance information. Requirements

  • education in the medical field, medical office assistant certification, or medical terminology
  • experience in patient access role preferred
  • excellent customer service skills
  • good attention to detail
  • ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Greets and guides patients and visitors to their destinations with a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
  • Registers patients with correct patient identity and accurate information within the electronic record system (Epic). Verifies insurance coverage.
  • Schedules appointments and checks in appointments.
  • Obtains patient consent for treatment.
  • Scans consent forms, EKGs and other documents as requested into Epic.
  • Completes missing account information through assigned work queues.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure patients are receiving services (ED Nursing, Lab, Imaging).
  • Monitors patient and visitor access through the Emergency Department entrance during the night. (11pm-7am Shift)
  • Cleans Admitting work area and adjacent public areas when needed.
