About The Position

Supervise all Patient Access and Patient Registration functions. Incumbent must ensure that patient ED, Ambulatory Surgery, Outpatient Pulmonary, Cardiology, radiology and lab registrations, admissions, pre-registration and discharge processes run timely and efficiently. Supervisor will oversee staff assignments to ensure adequate coverage for all areas. Supervisor will oversee and perform quality assurance and downtime work as assigned. Obligation to train new hires and existing staff on existing and new processes and protocols. Must ensure smooth workload transition from day to night shift personnel. This position is for the Patient Access Supervisor role within the Patient Access Department, working 40 hours on the 2nd shift (3-11pm).

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • 5+ years of hospital Patient Access experience required.
  • Ability to supervise a minimum of 3-5 employees.
  • Past experience with training staff, conducting quality assurance analyses, and doing root cause problem solving.
  • Epic, Outlook, Microsoft Office.
  • In-depth Meditech system experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Patient Registration practices/protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize under short deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with clinical care team and physicians in a manner that is both assertive and sensitive to interdisciplinary boundaries of authority.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of diplomacy and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to balance sometimes conflicting priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Patient Access and Patient Registration functions.
  • Ensure patient ED, Ambulatory Surgery, Outpatient Pulmonary, Cardiology, radiology and lab registrations, admissions, pre-registration and discharge processes run timely and efficiently.
  • Oversee staff assignments to ensure adequate coverage for all areas.
  • Oversee and perform quality assurance and downtime work as assigned.
  • Train new hires and existing staff on existing and new processes and protocols.
  • Ensure smooth workload transition from day to night shift personnel.
  • Collaborate with Patient Access Manager and Lead Patient Access Coordinators.
  • Cross-functionality with Financial Coordinators, Bed Management Coordinators, and hospital staff.
  • Oversee all scheduling, training, workflow, staff assignments, and coverage for all evening and weekend Patient Registration staff members.
  • Carry out the operational and management functions of the Patient Registration department as directed by the Director of Patient Registration.
  • Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Identify operational issues and challenges, raise them to Manager, and work with Manager to resolve.
  • Assist Director with staff evaluations by providing input on individuals.
  • Support execution of performance improvement initiatives within the department or with other hospital departments.
  • Assist in resolving patient concerns.
