About The Position

Simpson General Hospital Medical Clinic is seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Patient Access Service Representative I (PASER I) to join its Rural Health Clinic team. As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and callers, this role helps create a positive patient experience and supports the clinic’s daily operations. The representative schedules appointments, verifies insurance, assists with patient check-in, answers calls, and helps patients before they see a provider.

The position is based at Simpson General Hospital Medical Clinic, 1827 Simpson Hwy 149, Suite C, Mendenhall, Mississippi 39114. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary. The role reports to the Clinic Director and is PRN. The clinic offers an opportunity to build healthcare experience, develop new skills, and contribute to care in the community.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer literacy, including ability to use a keyboard, mouse, email, web-based systems, and multiple screens.
• Ability to learn electronic health record (EHR) and practice management software, insurance eligibility portals, and patient portal tools.
• Strong verbal communication and telephone etiquette.
• Ability to communicate calmly, respectfully, and professionally with patients.
• Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
• Dependability, punctuality, a team-oriented approach, and willingness to be cross-trained.

Nice To Haves

• Prior customer service, clerical, retail, banking, call center, medical office, or front-desk experience.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, visitors, and callers with professionalism and courtesy.
• Schedule appointments and help manage provider schedules.
• Register patients and maintain accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect copays and patient balances.
• Assist patients with forms, MyChart access, and general clinic questions.
• Route patient requests and communicate with clinical staff to support clinic workflow.
• Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance.
