About The Position

Simpson General Hospital is seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Patient Access Service Representative I (PASER I) to join its Rural Health Clinic team. The representative serves as a first point of contact for patients and helps create a positive experience while supporting smooth clinic operations. Duties include scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, assisting with patient check-in, and answering calls. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary. The position is PRN.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use a keyboard, mouse, email, web-based systems, and multiple screens.
Ability to learn electronic health record (EHR) and practice management software, insurance eligibility portals, and patient portal tools.
Strong verbal communication and telephone etiquette.
Ability to communicate with patients calmly, respectfully, and professionally.
Accurate data-entry skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Dependability, punctuality, a team-oriented approach, and willingness to be cross-trained.

Nice To Haves

Prior customer service, clerical, retail, banking, call center, medical office, or front-desk experience.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients, visitors, and callers with professionalism and courtesy.
Schedule appointments and help manage provider schedules.
Register patients and maintain accurate demographic and insurance information.
Verify insurance eligibility and collect copays and patient balances.
Assist patients with forms, MyChart access, and general clinic questions.
Route patient requests and communicate with clinical staff to support clinic workflow.
Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance.
