About The Position

The Patient Access Representative assists patients, clinic staff, and other clinical staff with scheduling, pre-registration, and registration for services at Adena Health System. The role gathers information in person, through Meditech or eCW, or by phone, including demographic, insurance, and financial information, as well as precertification and authorization details needed for billing and patient account collection. The representative uses electronic tools to verify active insurance coverage and runs an estimate for each patient at each visit or by phone during pre-registration. The position obtains required signatures and documents during registration and scans them into document imaging. It enters diagnoses, tests, and orders, and checks orders for completeness and medical necessity. The representative works with clinicians in the emergency room, outpatient settings, and clinics to support timely patient care. This is a team-oriented role requiring self-direction, multitasking, prioritization, strong communication, and effective interaction with others. The posting also notes that Patient Access Representatives at AGMC answer incoming hospital switchboard calls and transfer them as appropriate.
